Weather Cancels Area Sports AGAIN

Brian Gosset

Now for the past two weeks, inclement weather has canceled various area sporting events. The GCEC Lady Panther softball classic at Van Alstyne, originally scheduled for last week, has been canceled again and for good. Postponed until today and Saturday, the weather has caused the tournament to cancel and won’t be rescheduled due to the impending rest of the season. Howe and Van Alstyne was scheduled to participate. Bulldog and Panther baseball also won’t be playing this week. Howe was set to play in Gunter and Pilot Point while Van Alstyne was to travel to Elysian Fields. For now, other games are being discussed so that both teams can get some playing time in but for now, nothing is set. Stay tuned for any updates. Van Alstyne softball should be playing Whitewright Wednesday while Howe softball hosts Pilot Point Monday, at Gunter Tuesday. Baseball- VA hosts GCEC tourney next weekend; Howe hosts Gunter Tuesday (what respected schedules say). As for powerlifting, boys and girls regional meets are still a go. Boys meet at Chico Friday, girls meet Saturday at Whitesboro. AND DON’T FORGET: Van Alstyne boys basketball vs Ponder, Friday 8:15 pm at Rockwall Heath. Regional tournament final set for 2 pm Saturday.
