Waukee boys rolling in the right direction

Waukee boys’ bowling went up against Des Moines Roosevelt on Monday, Jan. 18 and put on a dominant performance. Led by Andrew Sullwold’s 470 pins, the Warriors won the meet 3,024-2,352.

All six varsity bowlers produced solid numbers on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day meet at Warrior Lanes. In addition to Sullwold’s excellent showing, Garrhet Bucklew posted a 395 series. Jon Sullwold and Jonah Starmer both rolled a series of 391. Austin Young and Jack Henry scored 355 and 336, respectively.

The victory over Des Moines Roosevelt followed a loss last Thursday on the road against Southeast Polk at Premiere Bowling. In that meet, the Warriors fell, 3,109-2,812. Jonah Starmer bowled a 437, and Jon Sullwold scored a 392 series individually. However, it was not enough to win.

Next up for Waukee is a trip to Marshalltown on Thursday, Jan. 21. The Warriors will look to continue rolling in the right direction at Totem Bowl.
