Howe, VA Powerlifters Compete in Coyote Country

On Jan. 16, 124 powerlifters traveled to Anna High School to compete in the area’s first meet of the season.

Both Howe and Van Alstyne participated in the meet, and Howe junior Tanner Hartsfield finished first in the 181 pound class with a total weight lift of 1,130 pounds.

Triston Matthews of Howe placed third in the 220 pound weight class with a total of 1,270 pounds.

Van Alstyne junior Matt Bramer lifted 1,165 pounds total, finishing third in the 242 pound weight class.

The Howe boys finished sixth and Van Alstyne tenth in the event.

On the girls side, Van Alstyne junior Bailee Glenn had the highest total weight lifted with 700 pounds. She finished third in her class. Julies Barnes finished second in her class with 500 total pounds lifted.

The Lady Panther team finished fourth among 16 teams and it was the highest-ranked team from Division 3.

There were no Howe girl lifters at this meet.
