Mustang baseball has tough season

The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs baseball team had a rough 2017 season. The Mustangs ended the year with a 3-2 loss to North Polk in the first round of districts ending their season with an overall record of 10-21.

According to www.quickstatsiowa.com, junior Cade Bertrand led the Mustangs with 35 hits this season. He scored 15 runs, had 15 RBIs and had a batting average of 0.333.

Brett Foreman followed Bertrand with 28 hits and 13 runs. Foreman also had 14 RBIs and finished the season with a batting average of 0.295.

Justin Biegger was the Mustangs third leader of hits on the season with a total of 27. Biegger score nine runs this year, had eight RBIs and a batting average of 0.380.

Both Biegger and Foreman pitched for the Mustangs this season. Biegger ended the year with a 1-5 record after pitching 44.33 innings. He struck out 21 batters for and ERA of 3.00. Foreman pitched 35 innings and had a record of 3-2. He struck out 38 batters and finished with and ERA of 3.20.
