Tiger baseball season ends 18-14

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers’ baseball team ended their 2017 season in the first round of districts on July 14. The Tigers finished the season with a record of 18-14 after a 7-4 loss to Greene County.

According to www.quickstatsiowa.com, senior Kade Overton led the Tigers with 41 hits, 33 runs and one of the Tigers five home runs. He also had 22 RBIs and a batting average of 0.387. Overton also pitched 42 innings for the Tigers. He finished the season with a record of 5-4, had 51 strikeouts and an ERA of 5.33.

Jack O’Brien followed Overton with 36 hits. He also scored 25 runs, had 25 RBIs and had a batting average of 0.308.

Dalton Hews and Nick Lindgren both finished the season with 35 hits. Hews ended the year with 23 runs and one home run. He also had 13 RBIs and a batting average of 0.361. Lindgren scored 25 runs and led the Tigers with three home runs on the season. He finished the year with 27 RBIs and a batting average of 0.365.

Hews also pitched for the Tigers. He finished the 2017 season with a 3-2 record after pitching 44.6 innings. Hews struck out 49 batters last year and ended the season with an ERA of 2.19.
